Sea Almond

Sea almond, also called tropical almond, country almond, Indian almond or Malabar almond, is a large tropical tree, Terminalia catappa, native to Asia, Australia, the Pacific, Madagascar and Seychelles. When ripe, its seeds are edible raw or cooked, though they are small and difficult to extract, which limits their practical use as food. The common names referring to almonds come from the edible seed, even though the tree is unrelated to the true almond.
