Tinutuan

Rice, Grain and Starch Dishes

Tinutuan, also called bubur manado or Manadonese porridge, is a specialty of Manado cuisine and a popular breakfast food in the city of Manado and the surrounding province of North Sulawesi, Indonesia. It is a congee, rice cooked down to a soft, pulpy consistency, mixed with pumpkin and either sweet potato or cassava, along with corn kernels and leafy greens such as water spinach and amaranth. It is traditionally served hot with toppings such as fried shallots, tofu, and spring onions, often accompanied by smoked or salted fish such as skipjack tuna or anchovies.
