Touton, also pronounced toutin, tiffin, touten or towtent, is a traditional dish from Newfoundland made with risen bread dough. It can refer to two different types of baked or fried dough, a dough cake variant that is usually fried, and a baked bun variant made with pork fat, and carries a long list of regionally distinct names. Toutons are usually served at breakfast or brunch and appear on the breakfast menus of many local restaurants.
