Kue bingka

Breads, Flatbreads and Savory Pastries

Kue bingka is a moist traditional cake from South Kalimantan, Indonesia, closely tied to Banjarese cuisine, where it is one of dozens of cakes served at weddings and other celebrations. It is made from flour, eggs, coconut milk, sugar and salt, and is often baked in a mold that leaves a decorative floral pattern on top. It is a popular food for breaking the fast during Ramadan and is also eaten in Brunei, Malaysia and Singapore, with a version known in Myanmar as kway pinka.
