Fakou, also known as fakou foye or fakoye, is a traditional soup of the Songhai and Tuareg peoples of Niger and northern Mali. The soup is dark green and slightly thick, made from jute leaves, scientifically known as Corchorus olitorius and referred to elsewhere in Africa as mulukhiyah or ayoyo.
