Grilled limpets, called lapas grelhadas in Portuguese, are a delicacy of the cuisine of the Azores and Madeira, the Portuguese archipelagos in the Atlantic. The dish uses the limpet species Patella aspera and Patella candei, seasoned with paprika paste, garlic and butter and grilled in their own shells, typically served hot as an appetizer straight from the still-hot griddle they were cooked on.
