The McVeggie is a vegetarian burger sold by the fast food chain McDonald's, built around a battered and breaded patty made from peas, corn, carrots, green beans, onions, potatoes, rice and spices, served in a sesame bun with eggless mayonnaise and lettuce. McDonald's introduced it in 2012 alongside the opening of its first vegetarian-only restaurant, in India, a response to the country's large vegetarian population, and the burger has since been sold in markets including Hong Kong, Germany, South Australia, Finland, Sweden, Belgium, Greece, Malaysia, Portugal, Switzerland, New Zealand and Canada. Some markets replaced it with the McPlant in 2022, though Portugal brought the McVeggie back in 2024, and Canada began permanent sales of a locally reformulated version in September 2025.
