Oatmeal ball

Breads, Flatbreads and Savory Pastries

The oatmeal ball, called havregrynskugle in Danish and often known as the chocolate ball or chokladboll in Swedish, is an unbaked confectionery popular in Denmark and Sweden. It is made by mixing oatmeal, sugar, cocoa, vanilla sugar, butter and sometimes a little coffee into a compact mass, which is hand formed into balls and rolled in shredded coconut, pearl sugar or sprinkles before chilling. Because it requires no baking, it is one of the most popular homemade sweets in both countries and a common sight at children's parties.
