Home›Dishes›Cuisine›Canadian CuisineCuisineCanadian CuisineNorth American CuisinesReference and ClassificationThoroughly VerifiedCanadian cuisine consists of the cooking traditions and practices of Canada, with regional variances across the country. First Nations and Inuit have practiced their culinary traditions in the land now called Canada for at least fifteen thousand years, and European settlers on the east coast and then across New France, British North America and Canada blended foreign recipes and techniques with Indigenous plants and animals. Modern Canadian cooking values local ingredients and terroir, naming products by their place, as with Malpeque oysters and Alberta beef. Regional emphases include lobster and dulse in the Maritimes, salmon and crab in British Columbia and maple syrup in central Canada.FactsCanadian CuisineConnectionsIn the Other AtlasesSourcesTake a Related QuizComments (0)Reader Challenges (0)FactsOrigin RegionWell-attestedCanada 1Canadian CuisineFilter Results9 entriesDish FamilyAllBreakfast Sandwiches (1)East Asian Rice and Grain Dishes (1)North American Breads and Pastries (3)North American Rice and Grain Dishes (1)North American Roasted, Grilled and Fried Dishes (1)North American Stews, Braises and Sauced Dishes (2)Main IngredientAllAvocado (2)Bacon (3)Beef (1)Butter (1)Cheese (2)Chicken (1)Clam (1)Crab (1)Cucumber (1)Egg (1)Flour (1)Ham (1)Mozzarella (1)Onion (1)Parsley (1)Pineapple (1)Pork (1)Potato (1)Rice (1)Sugar (1)Era (Origin Period)All1993 (1)TraditionAllBread Baking (1)Format/TypeAllBreakfast Sandwiches (1)East Asian Rice and Grain Dishes (1)North American Breads and Pastries (3)North American Rice and Grain Dishes (1)North American Roasted, Grilled and Fried Dishes (1)North American Stews, Braises and Sauced Dishes (2)CourseAllDessert (1)Main Course (1)Dietary SuitabilityAllContains Dairy or Egg (1)Contains Fish or Shellfish (1)Contains Meat or Poultry (4)Origin RegionAllCanada (7)United States (1)Show ResultsBrowseCompareSelect all 9Bacon, Egg and Cheese SandwichCanadian CuisineCalifornia RollCanadian CuisineFricotCanadian CuisineGarlic fingersCanadian CuisineHawaiian PizzaCanadian CuisineJiggs dinnerCanadian CuisineSaskatoon Berry PieCanadian CuisineSushi pizzaCanadian CuisineToutonCanadian CuisineConnectionsExpresses TraditionMaple Syrup Production, Food Traditions Well-attested Source Canadian Cuisine (Wikipedia)Features DishBacon, Egg and Cheese Sandwich, Dishes Well-attested Source Wikipedia, Bacon, egg and cheese sandwichCalifornia Roll, Dishes Well-attested Source California roll (Wikipedia)Fricot, Dishes Well-attested Source Fricot (Wikipedia)Garlic fingers, Dishes Well-attested Source Garlic fingers (Wikipedia)Hawaiian Pizza, Dishes Well-attested Source Hawaiian pizza (Wikipedia)Jiggs dinner, Dishes Well-attested Source Jiggs dinner (Wikipedia)Saskatoon Berry Pie, Dishes Well-attested Source Saskatoon berry pie (Wikipedia)Sushi pizza, Dishes Well-attested Source Sushi pizza (Wikipedia)Touton, Dishes Well-attested Source Wikipedia, ToutonUses IngredientBeef, Ingredients Well-attested Source Canadian Cuisine (Wikipedia)Maple Syrup, Ingredients Well-attested Source Canadian Cuisine (Wikipedia)Oyster, Ingredients Well-attested Source Canadian Cuisine (Wikipedia)Salmon, Ingredients Well-attested Source Canadian Cuisine (Wikipedia)In the Other AtlasesOriginated InCanadaAlso in Geography Atlas: where this subject originated.Source Canadian Cuisine (Wikipedia)Sources1.
