French tacos

French tacos is a French fast food dish consisting of a flour tortilla wrapped around fillings, typically grilled meat such as chicken, beef or turkey, Belgian-style fries, cheese and a sauce such as garlic sauce, harissa or barbecue sauce, then grilled or toasted before serving. Despite the name it bears little resemblance to a Mexican taco and is closer in form to a burrito, quesadilla or panini. Its exact origin is contested: some accounts credit the Moroccan brothers Abdelhadi and Mohammed Moubarek with inventing it at a kebab shop in Savoy in the mid-2000s, while other sources place its first appearance at fast food restaurants near Lyon in the early 2000s, after which it spread nationwide through dedicated restaurant chains.
