Slinger

Roasted, Grilled and Fried Dishes

A slinger is an American Midwest diner specialty typically made of two eggs, hash browns, and a ground beef patty, all covered in chili con carne and generously topped with cheese and onions; the eggs can be prepared any style, and hot sauce is usually served on the side. It is considered a St. Louis late-night culinary original, described as a hometown invention built from a mishmash of meat, hash-fried potatoes, eggs, and chili, and can be ordered with a choice of ham, sausage, bacon, hamburger patties, or a whole T-bone steak in place of the standard patty.
