Sacha inchi oil is pressed from the seeds and fruit flesh of Plukenetia volubilis, a tree native to the area surrounding the Amazon River. It has an unusually high content of the omega-3 fatty acid alpha-linolenic acid, at about 50 percent, comparable to flaxseed oil, and a high tocopherol content dominated by gamma- and delta-tocopherol.
