Basler Lackerli is a traditional hard spiced biscuit from Basel, Switzerland, made from honey, hazelnuts, almonds, candied peel and Kirsch. The dough is baked in a thin layer, glazed with sugar while still hot, and cut into rectangular pieces. It was first created by spice merchants in Basel more than seven hundred years ago and is still sold there year round.
