Injo-gogi-bap

Rice, Grain and Starch Dishes

Injo-gogi-bap, Korean for rice with artificial meat, is a North Korean dish made of rice, kimchi, soy bean paste and soy bean oil. Steamed rice is wrapped in a light skin made from leftover soybean paste and dressed with a chili sauce, which creates a meat-like texture and makes the dish a meat substitute. It was created during the North Korean famine, which lasted from 1994 to 1998. The article gives its Korean name as 인조 고기 밥 and files it under North Korean cuisine, Korean rice dishes, imitation foods and soy-based foods.
