Peanut sauce is a sauce made from ground or pureed roasted peanuts combined with ingredients that typically include soy sauce, garlic, chili, sugar and lime or tamarind, common across Southeast Asian and West African cuisines. In Indonesia and Malaysia it is closely associated with satay, served as a dipping sauce for grilled skewered meat, and is also used in dishes such as gado-gado. Regional versions vary widely in sweetness, spice level and consistency.
