Rice, Grain and Starch Dishes

Patoleo, singular patoli, are stuffed turmeric leaf wraps prepared mainly along the western coast of India, filled with freshly shredded coconut, a rice flour paste, and palm jaggery, then cooked by wrapping and steaming the filling in turmeric leaves. The dish is primarily associated with Konkani-speaking Hindu and Goan Catholic communities, who prepare it for various religious festivals and cultural occasions.
