Stuffed Clam

Roasted, Grilled and Fried Dishes

Stuffed clams, also known as stuffies, are a New England seafood dish especially associated with Rhode Island and Massachusetts. Minced clam meat is mixed with breadcrumbs and ingredients such as onion, celery and pork products, then baked inside a quahog shell. The dish reflects both a tradition of New England frugality and the influence of Portuguese and Cape Verdean communities that settled along the coast.
