Grass jelly

Grass jelly is a jelly like dessert that originated in China and is now eaten widely across East and Southeast Asia. It is made from Chinese mesona, a plant in the mint family, which gives the jelly a mild, slightly bitter taste, and is said to have been invented by the Hakka people, who used it to help relieve heat stroke after long days working in the fields.
