Sno-ball

A sno-ball is a confection of finely shaved ice and flavored sugar syrup, sold seasonally from roughly March through October at dedicated stands throughout Maryland and the Deep South, especially Baltimore and New Orleans. It is frequently mistaken for a snow cone, but its ice is fine and fluffy rather than coarse, crunchy and granular, and the ice absorbs the syrup rather than letting it settle at the bottom.
