Beyond pasta it is used in savory dishes such as couscous and the Indian preparations upma, dosa and idli, and in sweet dishes such as European puddings, the Middle Eastern cake basbousa, and Indian halwa. A 100-gram serving provides 360 calories, 72.83 grams of carbohydrate and 12.68 grams of protein, with 23 percent of the daily value of thiamine; durum semolina is pale yellow, while common-wheat semolina, called farina in the United States, is beige and used more often in desserts.FactsSemolinaConnectionsSourcesComments (0)Reader Challenges (0)FactsClassificationAllergenWell-attestedCereals Containing Gluten 1SemolinaFilter Results19 entriesDish FamilyAllDesserts and Sweet Puddings (1)European Breads and Pastries (2)European Grain and Starch Dishes (1)European Noodles and Dumplings (2)Middle Eastern and North African Breads and Pastries (4)Middle Eastern and North African Rice and Grain Dishes (3)South Asian Breads and Pastries (1)South Asian Rice and Grain Dishes (2)South Asian Roasted, Grilled and Fried Dishes (3)CuisineAllAlgerian Cuisine (4)Bengali Cuisine (2)Egyptian Cuisine (1)French Cuisine (1)Greek Cuisine (3)Indian Cuisine (4)Israeli Cuisine (1)Italian Cuisine (3)Lebanese Cuisine (2)Middle Eastern Cuisine (1)Moroccan Cuisine (2)Pakistani Cuisine (1)Senegalese Cuisine (1)Swedish Cuisine (1)Syrian Cuisine (2)Tunisian Cuisine (1)Turkish Cuisine (1)West African Cuisine (1)Era (Origin Period)All-160 (1)1200 (1)TraditionAllBread Baking (2)Street Food Culture (3)Wedding Feast Traditions (1)Format/TypeAllDesserts and Sweet Puddings (1)European Breads and Pastries (2)European Grain and Starch Dishes (1)European Noodles and Dumplings (2)Middle Eastern and North African Breads and Pastries (4)Middle Eastern and North African Rice and Grain Dishes (3)South Asian Breads and Pastries (1)South Asian Rice and Grain Dishes (2)South Asian Roasted, Grilled and Fried Dishes (3)CourseAllDessert (9)Snack or Street Food (2)Dietary SuitabilityAllContains Dairy or Egg (5)Contains Meat or Poultry (1)Vegetarian (1)Origin RegionAllAlgeria (2)Asia (1)Bengal (1)Egypt (1)Greece (2)India (4)Italy (2)Lebanon (1)Morocco (1)Northern Europe (1)Syria (2)The Maghreb (1)Show ResultsBrowseCompareSelect all 19BasbousaSemolinaBerkoukesSemolinaBougatsaSemolinaGnocchi alla romanaSemolinaHalawet el jibnSemolinaKesra (bread)SemolinaLayali lubnanSemolinaMahdjoubaSemolinaPani PuriSemolinaPanipuriSemolinaPantuaSemolinaPlacenta CakeSemolinaRava idliSemolinaRoatSemolinaŞambaliSemolinaSeadaSemolinaSeffaSemolinaSuji ka halwaSemolinaVispipuuroSemolinaConnectionsAssociated WithCouscous, Ingredients Well-attested Fettuccine, Ingredients Well-attested Macaroni, Ingredients Well-attested Orzo, Ingredients Well-attested Penne, Ingredients Well-attested Spaghetti, Ingredients Well-attested Wheat, Ingredients Well-attested Carries AllergenCereals Containing Gluten, Ingredients Well-attested Used ByBasbousa, Dishes Well-attested Source Basbousa (Wikipedia)Berkoukes, Dishes Well-attested Source Berkoukes (Wikipedia)Bougatsa, Dishes Well-attested Source Bougatsa - WikipediaGnocchi alla romana, Dishes Well-attested Source Gnocchi alla romana (Wikipedia)Halawet el jibn, Dishes Well-attested Source Halawet el jibn (Wikipedia)Kesra (bread), Dishes Well-attested Source Kesra (bread) (Wikipedia)Layali lubnan, Dishes Well-attested Source Layali lubnan (Wikipedia)Mahdjouba, Dishes Well-attested Source Mahdjouba (Wikipedia)Pani Puri, Dishes Well-attested Source Pani puri, WikipediaPanipuri, Dishes Well-attested Source Panipuri (Wikipedia)Pantua, Dishes Well-attested Source Pantua (Wikipedia)Placenta Cake, Dishes Well-attested Source Placenta Cake (Wikipedia)Rava idli, Dishes Well-attested Source Rava idli (Wikipedia)Roat, Dishes Well-attested Source Roat (Wikipedia)Şambali, Dishes Well-attested Source Şambali (Wikipedia)Seada, Dishes Well-attested Source Seada (Wikipedia)Seffa, Dishes Well-attested Source Seffa (Wikipedia)Suji ka halwa, Dishes Well-attested Source Suji ka halwa (Wikipedia)Vispipuuro, Dishes Well-attested Source Vispipuuro (Wikipedia)Sources1.
